Open a Stitch account

Register with Stitch and finish their onboarding. Funds settle from Stitch to your own bank account.

Add it in PaymentHood

Paste your Stitch credentials into the PaymentHood dashboard. They stay server-side and never reach your storefront.

Install the plugin

Download the J2Commerce plugin and install it from Extensions → Manage → Install in your Joomla admin.

Enable and test

Paste your PaymentHood API key into the plugin settings, run a sandbox order end to end, then switch to live.

Frequently Asked Questions

Stitch connects directly to South African bank APIs, so a customer can pay from inside their own bank's authentication flow — Capitec Pay, Absa Pay or Nedbank Direct EFT — rather than entering card details. Bank-native rails typically authorise at a higher rate than cards in South Africa, which is the practical reason to offer them.

Two reasons. First, you keep the option of adding or swapping providers later without rebuilding your checkout. Second, PaymentHood handles the parts every direct integration has to rebuild anyway — idempotency, webhook signature verification, server-side re-verification and failover. If you will only ever use Stitch, a direct integration is a reasonable choice.

Stitch supports DebiCheck authenticated debit orders for recurring collection. Whether that fits your billing model depends on your product — check with Stitch before committing to it.

South African Rand (ZAR). For cross-border currencies, add a second provider in your PaymentHood dashboard and route by currency; your checkout integration does not change.
