Accept Nexi XPay
without building the integration

Nexi XPay is the e-commerce payment gateway of Nexi Payments S.p.A. Merchants reach it through their bank rather than directly, and the customer pays on a payment page hosted by Nexi, so card details never touch the merchant's website or PaymentHood.

What is Nexi XPay?

Coverage
Merchants whose bank distributes Nexi XPay. Intesa Sanpaolo (as XPay Web), Banca MPS, BPER, Banca Mediolanum and Mediobanca Premier are among the banks that do. Your own terms come from the bank, not from Nexi.

Among the countries Nexi, through your bank supports for Nexi XPay — Nexi, through your bank's own list is authoritative (opens in new tab).

Currencies
  • EUR

Among those supported. Which ones your account can charge in depends on its registered country.

Fees
Set and billed by Nexi, through your bank, and published on their pricing page (opens in new tab). PaymentHood adds nothing on top, at any volume.

Written against Nexi, through your bank's own documentation on . This page deliberately states no fees, no counts and no completeness claims, because those change without notice — for anything you are about to build on, Nexi, through your bank's own documentation (opens in new tab) is the authority.

Payment methods

Nexi XPay payment methods

Every method below runs through the same PaymentHood checkout. Turning one on or off is a dashboard setting, not a code change.

Cards

Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners, as enabled on your Nexi contract

Wallets and local methods

Nexi lists Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Bancomat Pay and MyBank among its circuits; what appears on the page depends on your contract

Cost

Nexi XPay fees and pricing

Two separate bills, and only one of them exists.

What PaymentHood charges
Nothing on your Nexi XPay transactions. No percentage and no per-transaction cut, at any volume. Every payment feature is free, and the optional Premium plan only adds white-label checkout branding.
What Nexi, through your bank charges
Nexi, through your bank sets its own rates and bills you directly. PaymentHood never sits between you and that invoice, so switching to or from Nexi XPay changes what you pay Nexi, through your bank and nothing else.
What moves the rate
Payment providers price per market and per method rather than as a single global figure. It also accepts several kinds of payment, and card, transfer and wallet rails each carry their own cost.
Where to check the figure
Nexi, through your bank publishes current rates on their pricing page (opens in new tab). That is the authority, not this page. We deliberately quote no numbers here, because a rate that has quietly changed is worse than no rate at all.
Integration

How PaymentHood works with Nexi XPay

Integrating Nexi XPay through Nexi, through your bank yourself is not just an API call. These are the parts every team ends up rebuilding — and the parts PaymentHood ships already done.

Credentials
The merchant's XPay API key from their Nexi back office, held server-side in PaymentHood and sent only from PaymentHood's servers to Nexi. The hosted page language is a per-merchant setting and defaults to Italian
Webhook security
Received on a PaymentHood URL that carries a per-profile secret key. Nexi does not sign its notification, so it is only read for which payment it concerns and is never trusted for the status
Payment verification
Server-side read-back of the order from Nexi before an order is marked paid, so the payment's real state always comes from Nexi rather than from the notification
  • Idempotent charge creation, so a retried request never double-charges a customer
  • Automatic failover to another configured provider when Nexi XPay is unreachable
  • One reconciliation view across Nexi XPay and every other provider you run
  • Provider credentials never reach the storefront or the customer's browser
  • Adding or switching a provider later is a dashboard change, not a re-integration
Setup

If you do not have one, register with Nexi, through your bank and complete its onboarding, then turn Nexi XPay on in your Nexi, through your bank Dashboard. 3

Enable it at checkout

Install the PaymentHood plugin for your platform, paste your PaymentHood API key, and Nexi XPay appears as a payment option. Test in sandbox, then switch to live.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and it normally comes from your bank rather than from Nexi directly. PaymentHood needs the XPay API key from your Nexi back office; it does not open Nexi accounts and is not party to your contract.

Intesa Sanpaolo (as XPay Web), Banca MPS, BPER, Banca Mediolanum and Mediobanca Premier are among the banks that distribute it. If you are not sure what sits behind your bank's e-commerce product, the acquirer is named in the merchant information sheet your bank gives you, the foglio informativo esercenti.

On a payment page hosted by Nexi. The buyer leaves your checkout, pays on Nexi's page and returns, which keeps card data off your server and off PaymentHood's. The page is shown in Italian unless you set another language.

Yes. A refund started in PaymentHood returns what is still refundable on the capture, and it settles asynchronously, so the final status arrives a little later. A partial refund is made in your Nexi back office rather than from PaymentHood, and it leaves the payment captured.

Not today. PaymentHood takes XPay as a one-off payment, so plan for paying each invoice as it comes due.

Yes. Nexi provides a test environment with test cards after you create a free developer account, and PaymentHood has a sandbox mode for XPay alongside it.

No. PaymentHood adds nothing to what your bank and Nexi charge: no percentage, no per-transaction cut, and no volume threshold where that changes. Your bank bills you directly and you keep that relationship. PaymentHood's only paid plan is Premium at $29 a month, which adds white-label checkout branding and nothing to your transaction cost.
