Accept PayPal

What Phoca Cart customers can pay with
Each method PayPal supports appears in your Phoca Cart checkout. Enabling one is a PaymentHood dashboard setting — nothing changes on the Joomla side.
PayPal wallet
Pay from a PayPal balance, linked bank account or stored card
Cards
Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, including guest checkout
Pay Later
Instalment options where PayPal offers them in the buyer's market
Connect PayPal to Phoca Cart
Four steps, no code. The full walkthrough with screenshots is in the Phoca Cart installation guide.
Open a PayPal account
Register with PayPal and finish their onboarding. Funds settle from PayPal to your own bank account.
Add it in PaymentHood
Paste your PayPal credentials into the PaymentHood dashboard. They stay server-side and never reach your storefront.
Install the plugin
Download the Phoca Cart plugin and install it from Extensions → Manage → Install in your Joomla admin.
Enable and test
Paste your PaymentHood API key into the plugin settings, run a sandbox order end to end, then switch to live.
Rather than a direct PayPal plugin
A single-provider plugin works until you need a second provider. These are the parts you would otherwise build and maintain yourself.
- Webhook security
- Signed webhook event, verified against PayPal's published certificate before an order is released
- Payment verification
- Server-side order capture and status re-check against the PayPal API before fulfilment
- Credentials
- OAuth client ID and secret, exchanged for a short-lived access token server-side in PaymentHood
- Add a second provider without touching your Phoca Cart checkout
- Automatic failover when PayPal is unreachable, instead of a failed order
- Idempotent charge creation, so a double-submitted order is not a double charge
- One reconciliation view across every provider you run
- Free and open source — read the plugin on GitHub (opens in new tab)
