Cost
The plugin is free and open source. You pay Authorize.net's own fees, published on their pricing page (opens in new tab). PaymentHood adds nothing on top.

Digital wallets

Apple Pay and PayPal through the gateway

Recurring billing

Automated Recurring Billing for subscription charges

Setup

Connect Authorize.net to Phoca Cart

Four steps, no code. The full walkthrough with screenshots is in the Phoca Cart installation guide.

1

Open a Authorize.net account

Register with Authorize.net and finish their onboarding. Funds settle from Authorize.net to your own bank account.

2

Add it in PaymentHood

Paste your Authorize.net credentials into the PaymentHood dashboard. They stay server-side and never reach your storefront.

3

Install the plugin

Download the Phoca Cart plugin and install it from Extensions → Manage → Install in your Joomla admin.

4

Enable and test

Paste your PaymentHood API key into the plugin settings, run a sandbox order end to end, then switch to live.

Why PaymentHood

Rather than a direct Authorize.net plugin

A single-provider plugin works until you need a second provider. These are the parts you would otherwise build and maintain yourself.

Webhook security
Signed webhook notification, verified before an order is released
Payment verification
Server-side transaction status re-check against the Authorize.net API before fulfilment
Credentials
API login ID and transaction key, held server-side in PaymentHood
  • Add a second provider without touching your Phoca Cart checkout
  • Automatic failover when Authorize.net is unreachable, instead of a failed order
  • Idempotent charge creation, so a double-submitted order is not a double charge
  • One reconciliation view across every provider you run
  • Free and open source — read the plugin on GitHub (opens in new tab)
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually yes. Authorize.net is a gateway rather than an acquirer, so it sits between your checkout and a merchant account you hold with a bank or processor. That is the main structural difference from an all-in-one provider like Stripe.

Because you already have acquiring on terms you like, or your bank requires it. Keeping the acquirer and changing only the gateway is a much smaller change than moving your whole payment relationship.

Yes, through Automated Recurring Billing. Whether it fits depends on your billing model — check the constraints with Authorize.net before you design around it.

No. Authorize.net bills you directly for its own fees, and PaymentHood takes no percentage and no per-transaction cut at any volume. See PaymentHood pricing.
