Accept Bizum
without building the integration
Bizum is a mobile payment scheme run by Spain's banks. The customer confirms the payment inside their own banking app using a phone number rather than a card, so nothing card-shaped reaches the merchant and there is no card chargeback route against the order. PaymentHood reaches Bizum through PPRO's Global API, as a browser redirect.

What is Bizum?
- Coverage

- Spain
Among the markets Bizum serves — their own list is authoritative (opens in new tab).

- EUR
Among those supported. Which ones your account can charge in depends on its registered country.
- Fees
- Set and billed by Bizum, and published on their pricing page (opens in new tab). PaymentHood adds nothing on top, at any volume.
- Official resources
- Website (opens in new tab) · Developer docs (opens in new tab)
Written against Bizum's own documentation on . This page deliberately states no fees, no counts and no completeness claims, because those change without notice — for anything you are about to build on, Bizum's own documentation (opens in new tab) is the authority.
Bizum payment methods
Every method below runs through the same PaymentHood checkout. Turning one on or off is a dashboard setting, not a code change.
Bank app confirmation
Customer approves the payment inside their own Spanish banking app
Refunds
Refundable through the same scheme for up to a year after the payment
Bizum fees and pricing
Two separate bills, and only one of them exists.
- What PaymentHood charges
- Nothing on your Bizum transactions. No percentage and no per-transaction cut, at any volume. Every payment feature is free, and the optional Premium plan only adds white-label checkout branding.
- What Bizum charges
- Bizum sets its own rates and bills you directly. PaymentHood never sits between you and that invoice, so switching to or from Bizum changes what you pay Bizum and nothing else.
- What moves the rate
- Payment providers price per market and per method rather than as a single global figure. It also accepts 2 different payment methods, and card, transfer and wallet rails each carry their own cost.
- Where to check the figure
- Bizum publishes current rates on their pricing page (opens in new tab). That is the authority, not this page. We deliberately quote no numbers here, because a rate that has quietly changed is worse than no rate at all.
How PaymentHood works with Bizum
A direct Bizum integration is not just an API call. These are the parts every team ends up rebuilding — and the parts PaymentHood ships already done.
- Credentials
- PPRO Global API bearer key plus a Merchant-Id header, held server-side in PaymentHood and never exposed to the storefront — sandbox and live keys are separate, and each is rejected by the other environment
- Webhook security
- Where a signing secret is configured, the PPRO-Signature header is verified as an HMAC-SHA256 over the timestamp and the exact raw body, inside a five-minute replay window; PPRO's older non-HMAC header is refused outright
- Payment verification
- Status comes from re-reading the charge at PPRO rather than from the callback — PPRO's webhooks are configured per account and carry no merchant reference, so the server-side poll is what authorises fulfilment
- Idempotent charge creation, so a retried request never double-charges a customer
- Automatic failover to another configured provider when Bizum is unreachable
- One reconciliation view across Bizum and every other provider you run
- Provider credentials never reach the storefront or the customer's browser
- Adding or switching a provider later is a dashboard change, not a re-integration
