Payment methods

What Phoca Cart customers can pay with

Each method Amazon Pay supports appears in your Phoca Cart checkout. Enabling one is a PaymentHood dashboard setting — nothing changes on the Joomla side.

Amazon account

Checkout with the card and address already stored on the buyer's Amazon account

Cards

The cards the buyer has on file with Amazon

Setup

Connect Amazon Pay to Phoca Cart

Four steps, no code. The full walkthrough with screenshots is in the Phoca Cart installation guide.

1

Open a Amazon Pay account

Register with Amazon Pay and finish their onboarding. Funds settle from Amazon Pay to your own bank account.

2

Add it in PaymentHood

Paste your Amazon Pay credentials into the PaymentHood dashboard. They stay server-side and never reach your storefront.

3

Install the plugin

Download the Phoca Cart plugin and install it from Extensions → Manage → Install in your Joomla admin.

4

Enable and test

Paste your PaymentHood API key into the plugin settings, run a sandbox order end to end, then switch to live.

Why PaymentHood

Rather than a direct Amazon Pay plugin

A single-provider plugin works until you need a second provider. These are the parts you would otherwise build and maintain yourself.

Webhook security
Signed Instant Payment Notification, validated before an order is released
Payment verification
Server-side charge status re-check against the Amazon Pay API before fulfilment
Credentials
Public key ID with a private key signing each request, held server-side in PaymentHood
  • Add a second provider without touching your Phoca Cart checkout
  • Automatic failover when Amazon Pay is unreachable, instead of a failed order
  • Idempotent charge creation, so a double-submitted order is not a double charge
  • One reconciliation view across every provider you run
  • Free and open source — read the plugin on GitHub (opens in new tab)

Frequently Asked Questions

In the United States, Japan and sixteen European countries. Note this is about where your business is established, not where your customers are — merchants outside those markets cannot onboard.

Checkout completion. The buyer reuses the address and card already on their Amazon account, which removes the form-filling step where mobile checkouts most often get abandoned.

Only for accounts with a EUR or GBP ledger currency. If your ledger is another currency you are effectively single-currency, which is worth confirming before you build around it.

No. Amazon Pay bills you directly for its own fees, and PaymentHood takes no percentage and no per-transaction cut at any volume. See PaymentHood pricing.
